The incident, which occurred, resulted in broken bones in the victim’s left forearm and left hand, Deputy Franklin Jennings of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department wrote in a incident report filed with the court. The victim, a 44 year-old man, also suffered bruises to his left rib cage and to his legs, Jennings said.
Jennings wrote in the document that the victim was at home a few minutes before 9 p.m. Saturday with two other people when Baniel Bergin came in through the front door of the mobile home and started swinging a bat. Daniel Bergin was wearing a green baseball cap, a dark jacket with a hood, blue jeans, and a black mask “with a skull on it like a biker wears while riding,” the deputy wrote.
The victim fought back against Daniel Bergin and, during the scuffle, the mask came off, revealing his face to the other people in the room, all of whom are acquaintances with Daniel Bergin, according to Jennings. Daniel Bergin allegedly lost his grip on the bat and then ran away, leaving the bat and his cap behind. Daniel Bergin was released Monday from Hancock County Jail in Ellsworth on $10,000 secured bail
